My father in law, Dave Fox, is a musician, composer, college instructor, and author. Quite a handful, huh?! He asked me to create a new website for him that would serve as a home base for all of this creative efforts. He wanted to be able to post upcoming gigs, have audio samples for people to listen to, and a blog.
I decided to use WordPress, with the WooThemes Canvas Framework and Gigpress plugin for managing gig listings. I was able to create a design that put all the important bits on the homepage without being overly busy. I wanted it to look classy and sophisticated, but also earthy, creative, and organic. I particularly am proud of the kickin background image I designed. Head over to http://davefoxmusic.com for the full impact.
Update: Dave has been working with a music industry promoter, and has developed a new business plan as a result. He and I have discussed his online presence at length, and decided it was time for a refresh to his website. The latest research shows that it’s crucial to have one’s music be the focus of the homepage, and to make it absolutely clear into which genre(s) of music you fit. Therefore, we decided to make Dave’s music, genres, and projects more of a central focus on the website. I also took the opportunity to develop a responsive layout for his website.
